Increased Departures from France

Due to the increased interest in our European imports services and particularly the rise in volumes from France, from July 1st, Toga Freight have increased the number of weekly departures from the country from 6 to 10 trailers.

Toga are lucky to be partnered with one of the strongest “groupage” operators in France who is a market leader in the France to Ireland market. Our close working relationship with Lyon Continental Freight for over two years has been a fantastic addition to our service portfolio and the volumes have been rising strongly in 2022.

Following meetings with senior staff from LCF and Toga in June, it has been decided to increase the weekly departures from the main Lille consolidation hub to 3 departures on Tuesday and 7 departures on Friday for containerised groupage.

The full load and direct collection services will continue to operate every day as required.

Speaking about the increased services, Toga’s Commercial Director, Robert Dickinson commented “The volumes from France allow us to be competitive in the market place and to exploit the increased volumes and enquiries we receive from Irish companies wishing to source their products from there. Local conditions in France with their vibrant economy and large and flexible workforce has enabled Irish buyers to source products there and with the improved shipping routes available it is now almost as quick to ship from France to Dublin as it is from London to Dublin, and of course as both countries are in the EU, there are no customs formalities or import duties to worry about”

Toga ship mainly via container from Belgium direct to Dublin or by road via Cherbourg to Rosslare and Dublin. All routes thereby avoiding the UK bottlenecks caused by Brexit Port delays.
